[Compcomm] Deciding a name

I debated with myself for a while wether or not I should reply to this thread,
as I don't want to polarize things further, but I figure I should throw in my
two cents.

While I agree that the name of the project should represent something somewhat
professional, etc., I feel that it is far *more* important to allow for
serious community involvement here. This of course is just my opinion, but I
am of the belief that our users are of the most importance to the project,
and that being this open to them will help us greatly in the longrun. This
is the same reason that during a large part of the Beryl/C-Q project's
life-cycle, I chose to have major decisions happen on IRC/forums, because the
barrier-to-entry is low enough to include most users in the discussion rather
than just the usual vocal select few.

In the end though, I'm not terribly personally invested in name-choosing, as I
don't think it will have *that* much effect on the success of the project and
because I am not nor do I wish to be in a position of leadership over this
project. The best I can say is good luck with whatever option you/we
eventually agree upon, and I hope that whatever happens, sense continues to
prevail, as it has done for most of the 'merge' process.
