What exactly does your compiz-manager do? Is it the icon/gui-based
utility similar to beryl-manager, that appears in the notification
area?
You can use compiz-manager (the one I'm developing) to fetch both
enviroment and command line options by passing either "-r args" or "-r
env". Since you can do this to just get the information, I don't think
it makes a lot of sense to remove the ability to start compiz using
that data.
I want my compiz-manager to work stand-alone, and there were some
discussions about this on compiz list prior to the development of it,
and the solution with using -r args and -r env is what seemed to make
most sense to me based on that discussion.
